Forced to survive without his high-tech suits in rural Tennessee, he investigates the true nature of the threat, uncovering that the Mandarin is a fabricated persona created by Aldrich Killian, a disgruntled scientist running A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics). The climax involves Stark saving the President and destroying all his suits as a symbolic act of renewal.
