The landscape of popular entertainment has undergone a radical transformation over the past two decades. While the early 20th century was defined by the "Big Five" Hollywood studios (MGM, Paramount, Warner Bros., RKO, 20th Century Fox), the contemporary era is characterized by a dispersed, vertically integrated, and globally oriented model.
