India, a country known for its rich cultural heritage and diverse traditions, has a unique and complex society when it comes to the lifestyle and culture of its women. The role of women in Indian society has undergone significant changes over the years, influenced by various factors such as modernization, urbanization, and social reform movements. This paper aims to provide an overview of the lifestyle and culture of Indian women, exploring their traditional roles, changing trends, and the challenges they face.
One of the biggest cultural shifts is the normalization of the single, working woman living alone in metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune. Thirty years ago, an unmarried woman over 25 was a social anomaly. Today, "PGs" (Paying Guest accommodations) are filled with women from small towns pursuing careers, delaying marriage, and openly discussing dating and mental health—topics once considered taboo.
