-final- -illusion- — Schoolmate 2

This is the game’s crown jewel. Instead of dialogue trees, SchoolMate 2 uses a 3D free-roam camera. You walk up to a girl, and a circular "mood meter" appears. Your dialogue choices, physical proximity (moving too close too fast triggers rejection), and gaze direction (yes, the game tracks where you look) affect the conversation. Look at her eyes for sincerity, or glance away to appear shy. It’s immersive and surprisingly nerve-wracking. The -Final- edition polished the hitbox detection, which was notoriously glitchy in the original release.

It is a time capsule of early 2010s Japanese PC gaming. A game that tried to answer the question: "What if a high school dating sim felt as real as a movie?" And through its glitches, ambitious lighting effects, and surprisingly tender writing, it succeeds more than it fails. SchoolMate 2 -Final- -Illusion-
